The University of Denver is committed to supporting and caring for all students. Occasionally, members of our community observe student behavior that may be early warning signs of academic or personal distress.
These signs may include but are not limited to:
- Difficulties with adjusting to the college experience
- Allegations of gender violence or racial discrimination
- Excessive or unexplained absences
- Unclear or vague communication
- Troubling comments stated in a paper or said out loud during class
- Unsafe activities in the residence hall community that are not conducive to an academic environment.
- Disruptive in class
- Academic dishonesty/Honor Code
- Academic probation
- Incompletes
- Withdrawing from DU
- Adjusting or keeping up with course assignments
- Possible learning disabilities
- Performing poorly on midterm and/or final exams
- Inappropriate email correspondence
- Self-harm concerns
- Stopping out of DU for medical or personal reasons
- Difficulties with family/home environment
Students many times express appreciation when someone notices that “something isn’t right” and approaches them with concern. However, if you are not comfortable approaching a student yet remain concerned, we strongly encourage you to report your concern.
For more information about this Web site and our reporting process, please contact Assistant Provost Dr. B. Afeni Cobham at bcobham@du.edu or 303-871-4720.
