LEP Academic Counseling
About Academic Counseling
Each LEP student is assigned an LEP academic counselor. Students meet with their counselor on a weekly basis for one hour. Students typically stay with the same counselor for the duration of their time in the LEP.
Academic Counseling Offers:
- A consistent, accessible, and personal connection on campus
- An environment in which accountability, to both self and others, is developed
- Cultivation of self awareness, self responsibility, and self advocacy
- Assistance with written and expressive language
- Organizational and time management strategiesLearning support and strategiesLearning support and strategies
- Thoroughly review syllabi together to construct a map of the quarter
- Each quarter, map out all assignments, tests, quizzes, and projects on a 10 week calendar
- Each quarter, map out a weekly calendar that includes classes, extra-curricular, and daily living activities
- Each week, refer back tot eh 10 week calendar to address current and future assignments
- Each week, review successes and challenges to adjust the plan of action
- Learning support and strategies
- An environment in which to discover your personal learning style, strengths, and opportunities for growth
- Skill building in identifying and accessing resources, such as: LEP, DSP, campus, and community resources
