Conflict Resolution Services
Conflict Coaching
Students may be required to complete a one hour conflict coaching session with the Conflict Resolution Services (CRS) staff. The purpose of this outcome is to gain a better understanding of one's own conflict style and how to best approach conflict situations in the future. The content of your meeting will remain confidential, but the CRS staff member will notify Student Conduct about the successful completion of this outcome.
Once the conflict coaching session is completed, students will complete a reflection essay addressing the following issues:
- What did you learn about your conflict management skills as a result of this session?
- How do the skills you learned in this session relate to the behavior for which you were found responsible?
- How can you utilize the skills discussed in this session in the future?
Mediation Session
Students referred to a mediation session with meet with a trained mediator and another involved party to discuss the actions that took place in the incident. The purpose of this outcome is to gain a better understanding of how one's actions impacted the other people involved. Prior to the formal Mediation Session, the participant will complete a one-on-one meeting with a mediator in Conflict Resolution Services (CRS) to assure that moving forward with a Mediation Session is appropriate.
