to learn more about this land of contrasting cultures and puzzling contradictions?
Spend five weeks June 22, 2002 through July 27, 2002 at the
University of Denver International Summer Institute in a mid-summer program
especially designed for international and American students from age 17-25.
The program begins with four weeks of interactive classroom instruction
provided by University of Denver faculty and experts from throughout the
region. Conducted in English, the classes run from four to five hours, Mondays
through Thursdays. On Fridays, students enjoy a field trip that supports
the weeks classroom learning.
From 9 a.m.-noon daily students will be engaged in cultural and linguistic
exchange. International Students will attend English as a Second Language,
cross-cultural and communication skills training through DUs English
Language Center. (A TOEFL in the range of 450 or 133 CBT is highly recommended.)
Domestic students will attend cross-cultural and communication skills training
sessions along with international students, as well as research sessions
on language and culture.
From 1:30-3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, classes will be devoted to
exploring the facets of American culture that make it unique.
The final week will be spent on the road, experiencing past and present
life in the Rocky Mountain region.
