William L. Bourque has recently retired as vice president marketing for The Greenbrier Companies. He joined Greenbrier in 1986 and has been directly involved in the development and marketing of the company's double-stack container car products. He was with the Southern Pacific Transportation Company between 1979 and 1985. At Southern Pacific he held the position of general manager intermodal business planning. He directed the development of the $62 million Intermodal Container Transfer Facility located in the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, and his department was responsible for the acquisition of the first double-stack car fleet in 1981. Prior to Southern Pacific, he spent four years with the Federal Railroad Administration's Intermodal Freight Program office in Washington DC as a transportation analyst and specialist. He holds MSBA and BBA degrees from the University of Massachusetts and is a US Navy veteran.
