Representative of the Chancellor and the Provost
University of Denver
DTI Board Education Committee Chair
Bill Zaranka taught at the University of Pennsylvania before becoming director of the Creative Writing Program of the Department of English at the University of Denver in 1978. In 1984, he was named dean of Arts and Humanities & Social Sciences, and in 1989 he was selected by Chancellor Dan Ritchie to serve as provost, or chief academic officer, of the University, a position he held until 2001. In 2002, he returned to the Department of English, but was asked to serve as the University's representative of the Chancellor and Provost to the Transportation Institute, primarily because of his involvement with the ITI at its inception. In 2011 he retired from the Department of English but continues to serve as University liaison and as representative of Dean Michael McGuire of University College, to whom ITI reports academically.
