John Kaiser was named vice president and general manager-intermodal in 2003. He is responsible for Union Pacific's intermodal business unit, representing approximately $3.6 billion in annual revenue. Kaiser joined Union Pacific in 2002 as vice president and general manager of automotive. Kaiser has also been responsible for the Union Pacific distribution services, Insight Network Logistics and Streamline subsidiaries of Union Pacific. Kaiser began his career as a nuclear engineer prior to becoming a nuclear plant shift supervisor for Westinghouse Electric. He subsequently joined International Power Technology, an alternative energy company, where he held a number of positions concluding with his role as director of operations and business development. Kaiser spent 10 years with Emerson Electric in various positions including assistant treasurer and director of investor relations before being named president of SWECO and later president of Xomox Corporation, both divisions of Emerson Electric. Kaiser holds a B.S. Degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and a masters in business administration from Stanford University.
