Apple Mail version 3 (Leopard)

Follow the steps to configure your DU Email account using Apple Mail .

Open Apple Mail

Click on the Mail icon to start the application.

Configure Apple Mail for DU Email

1. Fill out your name, complete DU email address and corresponding password. Click Continue.

2. Select IMAP for the Account Type.
3. Give the account a description that you will recognize, like "DU email".
4. The Incoming Mail Server is: mail.du.edu.
5. Your User Name is the first portion of your email address (before the @ symbol), or firstname.lastname.

6. Give the Outgoing Mail Server a description that you will recognize, like "DU".
7. Type mail.du.edu in the Outgoing Mail Server field.
NOTE: mail.du.edu will only work when you are connected to DU's network on campus or by using the VPN from an off-campus connection. If you are using an ISP other than DU, you will need to contact your ISP to get the corresponding Outgoing Mail Server information.
8. Leave the Use Authentication box unchecked.

9. Leave Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) unchecked. Authentication is None. Click Continue.

10. Click Create.

The basic configuration of your DU email in Apple Mail is complete!
