DU webCentral provides faculty, staff and students with an easy-to-use, secure gateway to online information. After your first visit, you’ll have single sign-on access to your e-mail, Campus and Personal Announcements, myWeb, Blackboard, Portfolio, Penrose Library, calendars, courses, and more.

Introduction to webCentral - for Faculty

This session walks you through webCentral features and customizing content and layout. Faculty sessions also cover changing course home page links, webCentral course tools, and the relationship between Blackboard and webCentral. Archived handout.

webCentral Calendars

webCentral allows access, management, and sharing of appointments and/or tasks from a Web browser. We’ll cover some things you can do with webCentral calendars:

  • Create/edit events (including recurring events) and set reminders
  • Share your calendar and subscribe to other calendars
  • Create new calendars to manage personal appointments or a shared resource
  • Invite and inform others of a scheduled event
  • Share and/or delegate maintenance for a particular calendar
  • Create calendar sets to compare multiple calendars concurrently
  • Synchronize your appointments and/or tasks with Microsoft Outlook or a PDA
  • Import and export calendar data

webCentral Groups

WebCentral groups facilitate communication and sharing within a community of interest. Groups may be ongoing or have a life span for the duration of a particular project or committee. Groups can be public (anyone can join) or restricted (users request membership or group leaders add members). A variety of tools are available and each can be delegated including:

  • Group and guest Home pages
  • Group Leaders can “push” members into restricted groups
  • Announcements targeted to the group display on the webCentral Home tab
  • File Sharing/Uploads
  • E-mail (all or select members)
  • News, Links, Photos, Discussion, and Chat sections
  • Calendar sharing for the Group
  • Sub-groups for specific content/communication within the group
