March 16 11:30am - 1pm - How to get out of the cycle of outrage, agitation and tension in the current socio-political climate. This workshop will teach you practical coping skills to stop letting politics, media and other peoples opinion steal your energy and peace of mind. Learn how to move from frustration and agitation to a calmer, more centered and open approach to what is going on socio-politically and to establish boundaries for healthier communication in a time of social tension and disagreement. WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?
A mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
More simply put - paying attention in a particular way (Jon Kabat-Zinn's definition).
