Welcome to Wellness!

 

Pic Welcome to Wellness, a Living & Learning Community created specifically for students interested in healthful lifestyles and overall well-being. Because of its innovative curriculum and high level of involvement by faculty and staff, enrollment in Wellness is limited to 28 students.

If you're accepted, you'll join one of the most dynamic groups at DU.

 

You will:

  • Immerse yourself in a culture and community that explores the physical, emotional, occupational (school/work), intellectual, spiritual and social dimensions of wellness.
  • Enjoy wellness-centered classes, campus and community projects, and retreats.
  • Learn skills for creating a balanced lifestyle that you can use forever.
  • Most important, you'll be in a supportive environment where people truly respect and care for other.

The Wellness LLC was designed to promote personal growth and development. It is based on the belief that wellness is a life-long process of continuous improvement.

Each quarter of your first year, you'll take a two-credit class on the various aspects of wellness. You'll learn more about the dimensions of wellness and you'll discover how to live well in the challenging 21st century. Topics may include physical and mental wellness, global issues of health, and wellness and spiritual aspects of wellness. If you decide to pursue an interdisciplinary minor in wellness, you can apply credits from these courses toward your goal.

You will also sign a wellness-living contract and commit to making healthful decisions while part of the living and learning community. To make the process easier, upper-class Wellness students will mentor you and DU'sStudent Health Services Center and the Ritchie Center will provide special nutrition, physical conditioning, and stress and lifestyle management consultation sessions.

The main goal of the Wellness Living & Learning Community and its staff is to promote growth and development of each student's well-being by fostering a supportive environment where people respect and care for one another. The community aspect of the program is nurtured and developed through group learning and effective programming, community service, and regular and positive interaction among staff, faculty and students.

 

We are proud to offer the Wellness LLC as one of the Living and Learning Community options at the University of Denver. This program is one of many that set DU apart from other colleges and universities. The Learning Communities & Civic Engagement Department, in conjunction with the Department of Residence, offer a comprehensive living-learning experience for the students of the Wellness LLC. Please submit any questions about our Living and Learning Community to the Wellness LLC.
