Opportunities

As a part of the Wellness community you have the opportunity to participate in many programs and retreats outside of the classroom.

Wellness takes three major retreats during the year, one per quarter.  The Fall retreat this year was to Snow Mountain Ranch  in Granby, Colorado.  We stayed in a cabin, and cooked a healthy dinner as a group, built a campfire, played glow in the dark frisbee, and then layed out under the stars.  The next day we had a beautiful hike and participated in a low ropes course.

  Huddling around the fire!

The Winter retreat is for all years of wellness.  This year we went to Winter park for a fun filled day of skiing, snowboarding, riding the cat or just relaxing.  On the way home we stopped for a well deserved dinner at Beaujo's, and then head home, for a nap!

This spring we went to Shoshoni yoga retreat in Nederland, Colorado.  Where we will have some major rest and relaxation, since there are no televisions, and cell phone reception is minimal.  Shohoni has a variety of meditation workshops, yoga classes, and several hiking trails.

In the spring we have also stayed the night at DU’s Mt. Evans cabin, and visited the Indian Hot Springs for some serious rest and relaxation in the pool.  The next morning after preparing a filling breakfast students participated in a Tai-Chi class before heading back to campus.

There are also many smaller programs offered throughout the year, such as trips to the opera, theatre, yoga workshops, feng shui workshops, kickboxing, ultimate frisbee, indoor soccer, and many more!
