The New Video World Affairs Challenge - Creating A Video
Presentation Creation:
We refer to these presentations as ‘videos,’ but they can be a compilation of still photos, video clips, music, PowerPoint type slides, and best conveys the message in a digital format. Students can even narrate over the items being shown. But the video should be a complete file that can be uploaded and ‘played’ on a video sharing web site. Videos can also be filmed on a mini-DV camcorder or any digital camera that can record videos. Videos can then be transferred to the computer and edited through a variety of ways, depending on the camera and the computer:
Mac OS 10
Windows
Freeware (available at no cost; use links below to find out more):
Commercial software (use links below to find out more):
The easiest editing software to find may be the Windows Movie Maker that comes with any computer with Windows XP. The Windows Movie Maker also allows the team to edit their various source materials together and create the final presentation. More information (and links) can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_capture.
** Please have students cite any materials or sources they use to research
their topic in the final ‘credits’ portion of the presentation. **
Once the complete video has been finalized and is ready, the team will be able to upload them to the web. Final directions for uploading videos will be sent to all registered teams at least two weeks prior to the upload deadline of May 16, 2008.
