The National Council for Research on Women and the Center for the Study of Women and Society at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York announce a Rockefeller-funded humanities fellowship program, Facing Global Capital, Finding Human Security: A Gendered Critique. The National Institute of Justice solicits proposals for research on the sexual assault of females age 12 and older by strangers and nonstrangers. Areas include the effects of criminal justice reforms in the area of sexual assault, perpetrators' selection of victims, and the prevalence and incidence of sexual assault in specific understudied populations. Four grants averaging 
$250,000 will be awarded.

The Ford Foundation sponsoring approximately 60 predoctoral, 40 dissertation, and 30 postdoctoral fellowships administered by  the National Research Council. Each applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national Native American Indian, Mexican-American, Chicana/Chicano, Alaskan Native (Eskimo or Aleut), Native Pacific Islander (Polynesian or Micronesian), black/African-American, or Puerto Rican planning a career in teaching and research at the college or university level.

Colleges and universities may apply for funding for the University Scholar-in-Residence award  to support a woman scholar to undertake and disseminate research on gender and equity for women and girls.  Institutions may use the funds either to bring a qualified scholar to the institution for a fixed period or to designate a scholar  currently at the institution to undertake research activities that would not occur without such support.
