The Women's Integrated Health Project

WIHP is a Colorado-based organization whose mission is to ensure the mental, physical and emotional health of both women and girls through multidisciplinary therapeutic intervention.

They have a fabulous list of local support groups and resources for Denver and Boulder areas.

American Medical Women's Association

AMWA is an organization of 10,000 women physicians and medical students dedicated to serving as the unique voice for women's health and the advancement of women in medicine.

Breast Cancer Fund  

The Breast Cancer Fund aims to end breast cancer through public education, advocacy, patient support initiatives and research that promote: elimination of the preventable causes of the disease, including those in the environment; replacement of mammography with safer, more reliable screening methods; development of non-toxic treatments; and access to the best available medical care and information for everyone.

Eating Disorder Awareness and Prevention

EDAP is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of eating disorders and body dissatisfaction through prevention efforts, education, referral and support services, advocacy, training, and research.

Feminist Women's Health Center

We have a vision of a world where all women freely make their own decisions regarding their bodies, reproduction and sexuality--a world where women can fulfill their own unique potential and live healthy whole lives.  

FWHCs are located in Atlanta, Georgia; Eugene and Portland, Oregon; Oakland, California; Concord and Greenland, New Hampshire; Yakima, Tacoma and Renton, Washington.  But even if you don't live in these areas, it's still a really good website.

La Leche League International

La Leche League was founded to give information and encouragement, mainly through personal help, to all mothers who want to breastfeed their babies.

This site is for lesbians with cancer.  It has a wonderful links page! 

National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations

NABCO is the leading non-profit information and education resource on breast cancer and a network of over 400 member organizations nationwide. NABCO provides information to medical professionals and their organizations and to patients and their families, and advocates for beneficial regulatory change and legislation.

You can sign up to receive an e-mail message reminding you to schedule your next breast exam.  How cool is that?

National Asian Women's Health Organization

NAWHO focuses primarily on the education and empowerment of Asian American women, believing that health promotion, disease prevention, and policy improvement efforts could better involve and reach the men, women, and children of Asian American communities.  

The National Eating Disorder Information Centre

NEDIC provides information and resources on eating disorders and weight preoccupation.

The National Partnership for Women & Families 

NPWF is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that uses public education and advocacy to promote fairness in the workplace, quality health care, and policies that help women and men meet the dual demands of work and family.  

The National Women's Health Information Center

NWHIC provides current, reliable, commercial and cost-free, health information to women and their families.

Physicians for Human Rights

This site is not specifically geared towards women, but they do have some good info about women in Afghanistan.  See the PHR 2001 Report:  "Women's Health and Human Rights in Afghanistan."  his site was recommended by Denver University Professor Tracy Ehlers.

Colorado National Abortion Rights and Reproductive Rights Action League

The mission of Colorado NARAL is to develop and sustain a constituency that uses the political process to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive health choices, including preventing unintended pregnancies, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion.  

Catholics for Free Choice

CFC is engaged in research, policy analysis, education and advocacy on issues of gender equality and reproductive health.  The Center for Reproductive Law and Policy, as the only group of public interest lawyers exclusively dedicated to reproductive rights advocacy, stands in defense of a woman's right to decide whether and when to have a child.  We face down anti-choice zealots and their every effort to thwart Roe v. Wade.

The Global Reproductive Health Forum at Harvard aims to encourage the proliferation of critical discussions about reproductive health, rights and gender on the net.  

International Planned Parenthood Federation

IPPF's mission is to promote and defend the right of women and men, including young people, to decide freely the number and spacing of their children, and the right to the highest possible level of sexual and reproductive health.  

National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League

NARAL's mission is to protect and preserve the right to choose while promoting policies and programs that improve women's health and make abortion less necessary. NARAL works to educate Americans and officeholders about reproductive rights and health issues and elect pro-choice candidates at all levels of government.

National Pro-Choice Directory

The Directory is hosted by Concentric Media  and compiled by the Body Politic. Our aim is to make this directory as complete as possible, with fax and phone numbers, plus e-mail and web page listings.

This is an awesome resource for finding family planning clinics in any state of the union.

National Women's Political Caucus

NWPC is the only national, grassroots membership organization dedicated to increasing the number of pro-choice women in elected and appointed office regardless of party affiliation.  Our mission is to increase women's participation in the political process and to identify, recruit, train and support pro-choice women for election and appointment to public office.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America

Planned Parenthood believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the world, to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual's income, marital status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or residence. 

Women on Waves

WOW works to empower women to make conscious, well-informed decisions about family planning; prevent unwanted pregnancy; ensure safe and legal abortion; reduce unnecessary physical or psychological suffering and deaths from illegal abortions; and catalyze support for the liberalization of abortion laws worldwide.
