Freeware from Tom TylerTom Tyler, University of Denver Library MarcXGenRequirements:
Brief Description: MarcXGen extracts URLs from Marc bibliographic records and generates HTML code to create a single web page of hyperlinks that can be used with third party Link Checking software such as LinkBot and Xenu's Link Sleuth. While MarcXGen has been adapted to interpret 9xx field data from several libraries using the Innopac ILS, it has been used successfully with records exported from other library systems. With Version 2, MarcXGen also creates separate files of delimited data that may be used to build a relational database environment that may simplify some maintenance tasks associated with bad or problem URLs in library database records. Documentation: Documentation for MarcXGen, in MS Word format, is included among the files in the Zipped package available at the Download heading. A web version of the documentation is available at: http://www.du.edu/~ttyler/freeware/marcxgen.htm
The MarcXGen executable, documentation in MS Word format, and the template file for library name are available in Zipped format at the following address: http://www.du.edu/~ttyler/freeware/marcxgen.zip URLVExptRequirements:
Brief Description: Using Innopac's URLVereify.html file, URLVExpt creates two new files that may be used for general URL maintenance in Innopac bibliographic databases. The first is an HTML file of hyperlinks that can be used with third party link checking software. Hyperlinks in this file are constructed from the URLVerify.html file's URL column for all errors except redirects. Hyperlinks for temporary and permanent redirects are created from URLs in the New URL column. The second file created by URLVExpt contains delimited data from an Innopac URLVerify.html file. Data in this file can be easily and quickly imported into a spreadsheet or into a database which can be used effectively as a working environment for URL maintenance in the Innopac database.
Documentation for URLVExpt, in MS Word format, is included among the files in the Zipped package available at the Download heading. A web version of the documentation is available at: http://www.du.edu/~ttyler/freeware/urlvexpt.htm
The URLVExpt executable and documentation in MS Word format are available in Zipped format at: http://www.du.edu/~ttyler/freeware/urlvexpt.zip MkItBetrRequirements:
Brief Description: Using source data provided by one of the URLVExpt's delimited files, Innovative's URLVerify.html data is sorted by Error Type and URL in MS Access (preferably), and exported to a delimited file. This file is used as input data for MkItBetr which creates a newly formated error report in HTML with separate pages for each error type -- each arranged first by domain and then by URL.
Documentation for MkItBetr, in MS Word format, is included among the files in the Zipped package available at the Download heading. This file is also available on the web at: http://www.du.edu/~ttyler/freeware/mkitbetr.htm
The MkItBetr executable, documentation in MS Word format, and the template file for library name and IP number are available in Zipped format at http://www.du.edu/~ttyler/freeware/mkitbetr.zip
