Through generous grants from outside sources, the Estlow Center is able to fund between one and four graduate research associates during the school year. We also offer one work-study position each year. Recipients of these positions are selected from the pool of entering students in the M.A. programs of the Department of Mass Communications and Journalism Studies, Digital Media Studies and International and Intercultural Communication. Check the school's admissions requirements for further information and for current-year availability.

The Estlow Center offers University of Denver students several opportunities to work on research projects that are related to the interests of both the student and faculty affiliated with the Center. Students receive assistance in writing grant applications for the University of Denver's Partners in Scholarship program at the Undergraduate Research Center. Make an appointment with Dr. Lynn Schofield Clark to discuss your interests.

The Center also sponsors student participation in the events of and opportunities made available through the Denver Press Club, the Society for Professional Journalism, the Online News Association, and Denver's Open Media Foundation. Contact Dr. Clark about taking advantage of these opportunities.

Journalists

Three students talk in a lecture hall

Together with other organizations on the University of Denver campus and the Society for Professional Journalists, the Estlow Center brings to campus each year a renowned journalist who has contributed to democratic freedoms as recipient of the Anvil of Freedom Award. The award recipient gives public remarks and provides a workshop for journalism students and professional journalists prior to the public event.

We also experiment with bringing together students and media professionals. Through our guest lecture invitations, we offer media professionals the opportunity to hear directly from young people about their media practices and those they've observed among their peers.

The Estlow Center also partners with organizations both on campus and off to provide workshops on the art and craft of journalism. In the past we have partnered with the Reynolds Center for Business Journalism and the Society for Professional Journalists.
