Give to AHSS

One Day for DU--May 24

The DU community is asked to come together and show your support by making a gift on One Day for DU, May 24, 2017. Support the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences with your gift. Choose one of our special projects:

  • DU Art Research and Travel Grant
Imagine being able to examine and study a rare illuminated manuscript ensconced in a museum collection, traveling far abroad to photograph a vanishing way of life or being able to present hard-won, discipline-enhancing research at a conference of your peers? The DU Art Student Research Travel Grant offers just such opportunities to benefit both undergraduate and graduate students of DU's School of Art and Art History.

  • Project DU FILM
Project DU F.I.L.M. (film initiative linking mentors) is a collaborative filmmaking experience between faculty, students and alumni mentors. Together we write, produce, shoot, edit and distribute a short film shot on-location in Colorado. Alumni serve as mentors during all phases of the project and students learn what it takes to create a film from scratch.

  • Graduate Student Intercultural Cook-In
The Center for Judaic Studies is highly dedicated to interdisciplinary, intercultural bridge-building. In that spirit, we worked this academic year to create and coordinate a new exciting campus-wide project with The Office of Graduate Studies & the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management called the Graduate Student Intercultural Cook-In. It draws in grad students working in interdisciplinary areas from across divisions for an afternoon of intercultural cooking lessons with Knoebel Teaching Chefs followed by a reception open to the entire community where the culturally diverse foods they have prepared are enjoyed by all!

Why invest in the liberal arts?

While research shows courses in the arts, humanities and social sciences prepare students for the serious reading and writing skills many employers seek, universities are increasingly cutting these programs.

At DU, our AHSS students demonstrate the value and dedication we have to a liberal arts education. Through your support, our graduates are:

AHSS programs give students the chance to conduct research in the field alongside faculty whose own research appears in such publications as U.S. News & World Report , the International Journal of Social Economics and The New York Times .

Your support helps maintain AHSS' strong standards of teaching and research. We appreciate any investment you make to help AHSS programs grow and thrive.

You can pick which area receives your gift—whether you want to honor a professor who impacted you, donate to your favorite DU program or help finance a DU student's education.
