Johanna Frymoyer specializes in music semiotics, topic theory in modernist repertories, and the historiography of Stravinsky. She is currently preparing a book that will refine the analytic, stylistic and interpretive applications of texture to instrumental music. Professor Frymoyer teaches a wide variety of subjects including theories of expression, ballet history and representations of Islam in western music. She earned her Ph.D. in musicology from Princeton University and her B.M. (violin) from Vanderbilt University. Previously she taught at Rider University and Montclair State University.
