Gregory Dufford

Clarinetist, Gregory Dufford is a recently retired Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Metropolitan State University of Denver. He holds a BM and MA in clarinet performance from San Francisco State University. Shortly after graduating from college, he won a position as Clarinetist/Bass Clarinetist with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, which he held from 1980 to 1998, working with many of the world’s most eminent opera singers and conductors. As Principal Clarinetist of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Mr. Dufford was often a featured soloist. He was also a founding member of the Anchor Chamber Players and Stanford Woodwind Quintet. He was privileged to perform as Principal Clarinetist with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players for 13 years and performed on many commercial recordings with the ensemble during that time. Mr. Dufford was also the clarinet instructor at Stanford University and San Francisco State University. Currently, Mr. Dufford is the Artistic Director/Clarinetist with the Montage Chamber Players, a collaborative group of woodwind and piano chamber music professionals from the Denver Metro Area.
