Michael Schulze was appointed to the Lamont School of Music as Lecturer in Recording Technology in the fall of 2003. Before coming to the Lamont School of Music, he was the Director of Audio Services at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music for 11 years. He also did extensive research collaboration with AT&T Research Labs and the Cleveland Orchestra.

He holds the bachelor of music in music technology degree from the University of Illinois. Mr. Schulze is also a professional trombonist, commercial arranger, composer and midi programmer.

He is an active music producer and engineer with recordings released by major and independent labels. Mr. Schulze has also worked as a consultant for the AT&T Shannon Research labs where the AAC (mp4) audio code was developed.
