Beth Nielsen

Beth Nielsen

Originally from Southern California, Beth Nielsen is active as a pianist and vocal coach in the Denver metro area. She is currently the vocal coach for Opera Colorado’s Young Artist Program, working on language, diction and interpretation for all main-stage opera roles. Dr. Nielsen has coached at the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Southern California, Azusa Pacific University, California State University of Long Beach and Northern Arizona University, working with both instrumentalists and singers to prepare them for recitals, auditions and roles in larger works. While on faculty, she has taught vocal literature and repertoire coaching classes in addition to giving private coachings. Dr. Nielsen’s students have gone on to pursue graduate degrees at CU Boulder, the New England Conservatory, Indiana University, Boston University, Harvard and USC as well as participating in summer programs like Central City, Santa Fe and many European programs. Her passion for the vocal arts has resulted in partnering with many choirs, summer educational programs, musical theater productions and opera. Dr. Nielsen received both her doctorate and masters degrees from the University of Southern California in keyboard collaborative arts with additional studies in the vocal arts, choral music and theory.
