PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Lina is a faculty member in the Spanish Section of the Department of Languages & Literatures at the University of Denver. She specializes in heritage language pedagogy and teaches courses for heritage speakers at DU. Lina is an educator and researcher at the intersection of Spanish Sociolinguistics and Education, interested in issues related to bilingual/heritage language education and teacher training, academic language and literacy for linguistically diverse student communities and topics surrounding Spanish in the US. She has taught in a variety of diverse high school, higher education and community-based contexts, and works towards educational access for students of all linguistic backgrounds.
