Sari Havis is the coordinator of the Hebrew Language Program at DU. Havis teaches elementary and intermediate Hebrew, as well as courses on Israeli culture. She is a key member of the Test Development Committee of the SAT Subject Test in Modern Hebrew and is a member of the National Association of Professors of Hebrew (NAPH) pedagogical committee of Modern Hebrew.

Sari's yearly collaborative projects with academic colleges in Israel not only facilitate direct interaction between her Hebrew and film class students and their Israeli counterparts, but they also reflect and expand DU's spirit of sharing and improving globalized social efforts.

The recipient of a Dr. Irwin E. Vinnik Fellowship award (2011), Sari attended the Jerusalem International Film Festival and formed new contacts with Israeli film producers and distributors. Three times recipient of the Women's Library Association Research Collection Development Grant, Sari continues to expand the Israeli film shelf at Penrose library and enrich her film classes. Sari is also three times recipient of the Marsico Visiting Scholars grant, which allows her to bring to campus Israeli film producers, actors and speakers.

In 2011 and 2013, Sari co-organized the Hebrew Seminar, a major international Hebrew conference at DU, in connection with the National Middle East Language Resource Center (NMELRC). Working with the community, Sari facilitates interaction with local Denver Jewish day schools and provides yearly, free-of-charge Israeli film screenings to the Denver community.
