About: Joe Brown is a filmmaker whose work focuses on the natural world and issues of social justice. His documentaries have examined topics such as: natural gas drilling or "fracking," the abuse of wildlife, "radical" environmental activists, urban renewal, and socioeconomic class. His work has screened at film festivals such as: The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, The Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival, and The Birmingham Sidewalk Festival. Brown is actively involved in The Colorado Environmental Film Festival ( and serves as the Vice-President of the University Film & Video Association (2017-2021) ( Before joining the faculty at DU Brown taught at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. His current feature film– "Operation Wolf Patrol," is now in post-production. Learn more at:
