Environmental journalist Bill McKibben
Wednesday, April 3, 2013
University of Denver | Morgridge College of Education (Ruffatto Hall)
Join us as we honor environmental journalist Bill McKibben as the recipient of the 2013 Anvil of Freedom Award. The Estlow Lecture series and the Anvil of Freedom Award were created to offer recognition and honor to individuals whose careers demonstrate true leadership and commitment to democratic freedoms, ethics and integrity. Past honorees include David Broder, Katharine Graham, Al Neuharth and Helen Thomas.
McKibben is the author of a dozen books about the environment and is the founder of the grassroots climate campaign 350.org, which has coordinated 15,000 rallies in 189 countries since 2009. Time magazine called him "the planet's best green journalist" and the Boston Globe said in 2010 that he was "probably the country's most important environmentalist."
The event is free for students, faculty and staff of the University of Denver. Please RSVP using this link.
