Department of Religious Studies

Explore worldwide religion and religious traditions.

Religious Studies is so proud of all our undergraduate and graduate students, and especially all our soon-to-be graduating majors, minors, and MA students! We have loved working with you and watching your interests develop and grow - and we can't wait to see where your paths in life take you!

Religious studies faculty and staff are working hard to stay connected with our students during this unusual spring!

We are checking in regularly by email, phone, and with weekly Zoom community check-ins.

Our students are exploring the pandemic's impact on religious communities, with class sessions on how major spring holidays like Passover, Easter, and Ramadan have translated into stay-at-home and virtual services and celebrations. "Guest speakers" from Denver's religious communities have joined live class sessions to talk about how they are working to support their faith communities.

Our students have switched out our usual Denver-area site visits for online ones, and doing virtual site visits that allow them to explore houses of worship around the world.

Our faculty are offering online meditation sessions, online career sessions, and more - finding new ways to translate our support for religious studies and other DU students to an online space.

We miss seeing everyone in person and look forward to being back together as soon as we can!
