professional biography

Amie Levesque earned her PhD from Northeastern University in 2014. Her dissertation research centralized on gender and youth interactions in a high school Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA). She's currently working on a journal article about straight girls who join high school GSAs and the consequences of their participation on their LGBTQ peers. Amie is also working on a book manuscript from her ethnographic research—focusing on straight allies in high school GSAs. Amie teaches sociology courses on childhood, gender, education, social inequality, and qualitative research methods.
