Jared Del Rosso researches torture

Since 2007, Jared Del Rosso has studied the U.S. debates about detainee abuse, torture, and interrogation policy. To understand this debate, Professor Del Rosso analyzed over 40 transcripts of congressional hearings on these issues. Through this analysis, Professor Del Rosso documented a fundamental change in the ways that U.S. politicians spoke about torture.  More...

2015 Recognition Ceremony

The Department's annual Spring Recognition Ceremony was held on Friday, June 5th. At the ceremony, we initiated 7 students into Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD)--the Sociology Honor Society: Kelsey Betz, Christina Cook, Rebecca Gordon, Morgan Howell-Singleton (not present), Katie Lynn-Vecqueray, Alexis McVean, and Jamie Richardson.  In addition to the initiation ceremony, we acknowledged our 2015 senior thesis writers (Katie Lynn-Vecqueray and Jamie Richardson), and our departmental award winners:

The William H. Key Award for Outstanding Work in Applied Sociology was given to Victoria Stevenson.

The Wilbert E. Moore Award for Outstanding Scholarship went to Katie Lynn-Vecqueray and Jamie Richardson.  

The ceremony was followed by a luncheon for faculty, students and their families.
