Frederick Douglass Transcribe-a-Thon
10:00am -- 1:00pm
In honor of Frederick Douglass' 200th birthday, we are joining forces with the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the Smithsonian Transcription Center to help document Black history. Drop by the Writing Center and spend a few minutes as a digital volunteer, transcribing and reviewing transcriptions of the Freedmen's Bureau Papers, the largest crowdsourcing initiative ever sponsored by the Smithsonian. What will you be doing? You'll look at digital images of original archival documents and help to create type-written transcripts of the documents. We'll also have mini cupcakes in honor of Douglass Day. Questions? Write to firstname.lastname@example.org.
