Graduates

Make sure you've completed all the items in the graduation checklist:

  1. Fill out your graduation application.
  2. Attend an exit interview with your student loan provider, if applicable.
    • Federal Direct or Stafford Loan counseling is online at StudentLoans.gov.
    • Federal Perkins Loan exit interview is with the Bursar's Office; call (303) 871-4901.
  3. Take the Career Services survey to tell us where you're headed next.
    • The U.S. Department of Education requires us to gather information about the post-graduation plans of all DU graduates. If you're graduating this spring, log in to Pioneer Careers and tell us about your post-graduation plans or update your status on the landing page. Your individual responses will be kept private.
  4. Order and pick up your commencement regalia from the DU Bookstore.
  5. Confirm your mailing address and address any holds on your account in PioneerWeb; this will ensure that you receive your diploma 7-8 weeks after the ceremony.
  6. Arrive for the Commencement ceremony.
  7. Celebrate!

Ticket Information

Tickets are required for Undergraduate Commencement. Five tickets are allocated to each eligible graduate, and graduates will request their tickets electronically on this website. An email will be sent to the graduate's email inbox notifying them when tickets become available in late spring. Please note that tickets are not required for children under the age of 2.

We understand that students may want to invite more than five guests, and we welcome all who wish to join us on campus to celebrate the class of 2020. For guests who do not have a ticket to the ceremony, the University will host a family-friendly overflow area in the Ritchie Center, where the ceremony will be broadcast on a live-video stream.

Tickets are not required for Graduate Commencement.

Tickets are not required for Summer Commencement.

What to do at Commencement

Participants should report in cap and gown at the Ritchie Center.

You'll be given a card with your name and degree. You'll hand this to the person who will read your name as you walk across the stage to receive your diploma cover. We'll send your graduation photo proofs to your email address within one week of Commencement.

There won't be a place to store any large bags or personal items, so leave those at home or with your friends and family in the audience!

Look for your diploma in the mail (unless you're a doctoral recipient). Verify your mailing address on PioneerWeb, and click the "Student" tab to ensure you have no past-due tickets, payments, exit interviews or other obligations. We'll send your diploma within seven to eight weeks of the ceremony, barring any holds.
