Events & Activities

The Office of Religious & Spiritual Life recognizes that numerous wonderful opportunities to serve the community can be found at DU. The Office offers two more on a regular basis, and they are open to ALL members of the DU community, regardless of "where" one might be found in the University.

Metro CaRing

Metro CareRingOur longest-running association is with Metro Caring, a major hunger-relief organization in downtown Denver. For the last several years, Chaplain Gary and various DU folks have, once a month, helped hundreds of Denver's hungry population pick out great nutritious food at no charge. We have partnered with, and learned from, a wide cross-section of the Denver community: young and old, religious and non-religious, non-Native English speakers and Denver natives. We learn SO much, and we come away incredibly blessed.

Hoops to Hope

Through Hoops to Hope!

Beginning in the winter of 2014, the Office has partnered with Jiminy Wicket to bring Alzheimer's patients to DU. Students and other DU community members join with them in playing croquet! The relationship brings awareness of the disease to the DU folks, a trip out for the seniors, and enjoyment and engagement for all. The time commitment is not great (about a couple of hours per event), but the rewards are incredible.
