The World Meets Here

The English Language Center (ELC) at the University of Denver (DU) offers students a unique, supportive, and immersive educational experience with the benefits of a major metropolitan area and easy access to the outdoor adventures of the Rocky Mountains. The ELC has been preparing students for academic success in Bachelors, Masters, and PhD programs at DU and other institutions of higher education for over 40 years.

The University of Denver is committed to fostering an international campus. We seek to recruit highly qualified international students who will contribute to a community that is open to broad ideas, diverse cultures, and international perspectives.

Program Overview:

The ELC has dedicated facilities on campus with classrooms, meeting spaces, and faculty/staff offices. The main ELC building includes a prayer room, outdoor community space, and a student lounge.

  • 5-level intensive English curriculum
  • LAUNCH credit-bearing level for undergraduate students
  • 20 hours of study – Monday-Thursday
  • 9-week quarters with 4 start dates per year (January, March, June, September)
  • Approximately 125-225 students from 15-20 countries per quarter
  • Elective courses:
    • Service Learning
    • Digital Magazine
    • Sustainability
    • STEM Preparation
    • Professional Communication
    • American Culture (Music, Sports, Colorado, and more)

The English Language Center is a member of The Consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and The American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP). The English Language Center is proud to be fully accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation.

The English Language Center, University of Denver is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation for the period December 2015 through December 2025 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions.
