ENRICH-0645 – 1 Night In-Person: Pin-Up Grrrls (ENRICH-0645_GRRL)

Pin-Up Grrrls: Feminism, Sexuality, Popular Culture

As astounding as pin-up posters can be, the story behind them is even more surprising. In this freewheeling lecture, art history professor Maria Elena Buszek offers an eye-opening glimpse into the evolution of the pin-up along with her work as an art historian whose research connects the fine arts to popular culture. From Dutch landscape painting to fashion photography, impressionists to pin-up illustrators, suffragist marches to "pussyhat" knitters, Dr. Buszek addresses how visual culture and politics have been intertwined throughout art history.
