The Aspen Archives: Sheepherder Testimonies from the Colorado High Country (1925–present), curated by Dr. Alison Krögel, Professor of Andean and Quechua Studies at the Department of Languages, Literary and Cultural Studies at DU, contextualizes the sociocultural, historical, and political references alluded to in an array of aspen arborglyph carvings documented in the Routt National Forest over the past fifty years and dating back to 1925. The exhibit highlights the long-standing links between sheep ranches in northwestern Colorado with herders from rural high country communities in northern New Mexico, México, and Perú.

Join us at the Davis Gallery (Shwayder Art Building, 2121 E. Asbury Ave) for the free public opening reception on September 29, 2022 from 5 - 8 PM. Reservations not required and light Peruvian refreshments will be provided.
