Catalyst Series for Social Justice: adrienne maree brown - pleasure activism

October 14

11:00am - 12:30pm

Audience: Alumni,  Current Student,  Current Student - Cloned,  Faculty,  Neighbor or Friend,  Prospective Student,  Staff

Join adrienne maree brown for a discussion on social change and pleasure activism, a politics of healing and happiness that explodes the dour myth that changing the world is just another form of work. Drawing on the Black feminist tradition, she challenges us to rethink the ground rules of activism. Her mindset-altering essays are interwoven with conversations and insights from other feminist thinkers, including Audre Lorde, Joan Morgan, Cara Page, Sonya Renee Taylor (another speaker GSSW is proud to present in February 2022) and Alexis Pauline Gumbs. Her mantra is 'presence over planning' which to her means prioritizing the conversation that is needed at the moment. This event is a part of our annual Catalyst Series for Social Justice.

This conversation will be moderated by Assistant Professor Marquisha Lawrence Scott, Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver.

This webinar is free and open to all. Event will be hosted on Zoom.
