The annual Harper Distinguished Speaker Series brings to Denver a prominent leader from a liberal arts field. This year’s guest presenter is Tommy Orange, novelist and author of the bestselling "There There," which won the PEN/Hemingway Award, the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Prize, the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize and the American Book Award. Orange is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, and was born and raised in Oakland, California.
In a live conversation with Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology Kelly Fayard, Orange will discuss his craft and writing process, as well as his book's portrayal of the lives of urban Native Americans.
