The Human Trafficking Center is pleased to announce Ambassador Gary A. Grappo as this year's presenter for the Monica Petersen Memorial Lecture.

Gary A. Grappo served as U.S. Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman from 2006 until 2009.  Prior to and during his appointment, Ambassador Grappo played a leading role in bringing the U.S. Trafficking and Victims Protection Act of 2000 into fruition in Oman and neighboring Middle Eastern countries.

Ambassador Grappo will be joined by Professor Claude d'Estrée as they discuss the history of human trafficking in U.S. foreign policy and how human trafficking was addressed in the Middle East.

The annual lecture was established in 2016 in honor of our former Human Trafficking Center Research Fellow and Assistant to the Director, Monica Petersen. Monica was a scholar-activist committed to improving the plight of the oppressed with a clear and critical voice in the human trafficking field. She was courageous and gave selflessly of her time and energy.

We hope you will join us for the 2020 Annual Monica Petersen Memorial Lecture.  Dinner will be served at 5pm and the lecture will begin at 5:30pm.  Please RSVP by April 8th to [email protected]
