Exhibit Reception for Icons of the Diné, Friday, September 13, 6-8 pm with artist Jonathan Nelson
Inspired by identity and life on the Navajo Reservation, artist Jonathan Nelson has created a series Diné (Navajo) icons. These graphic representations of iconic roles contrast with stereotypes of Native peoples as mascots and are meant to empower and honor the Diné and other Indigenous peoples.The exhibit runs September 30. Free and open to the public.
