2:00pm - 3:30pm
Katherine A. Ruffatto Hall, Room 401, Mountain View Room
One out of four individuals is a person with a disability – we either are born into this community, or we become a member of this community due to an illness, an accident or we age into it. Having a disability places you in the world’s largest minority group. For many members of the DU community, we probably know about the ADA and about compliance with the law but do we know about the Disability Community? Like any other community, they have a language, cultural norms and expectations. Most importantly, they have specific needs and desires about how they wish to be treated.
You will come out of the presentation with a better understanding of the community and important strategies in serving and working with this community.
