When the KKK Was Mainstream

February 20

5:30pm - 8:00pm

Sturm Hall, Room 281, Lindsay Auditorium

The History Department is thrilled to host one of the nation’s most eminent historians, Dr. Linda Gordon, as our 2019 Breck-Martin Lecturer. Dr. Gordon will speak on a topic of high interest to anyone concerned about the state of our current political culture: the revived Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s, which burst seemingly out of nowhere to achieve great power in many parts of the country, including here in Colorado. Titling her talk “When the KKK Was Mainstream,” Dr. Gordon will show how the phenomenon of the 1920s Klan, far from a historical footnote, in fact carries chilling connections to our own time.

Dr. Gordon’s lecture will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, in Lindsay Auditorium (Sturm Hall 281). A reception with appetizers will precede the lecture at 6 p.m., and all are welcome to attend. Please join us for this timely talk!
