Armin Afsahi joined the University of Denver in 2015. He inspires a progressive vision for university advancement, and provides leadership for the University's global engagement and philanthropy programs. As the chief development officer, he builds strong, sincere and lasting relationships with key University leaders as well as alumni, parents and friends of DU.

Armin oversees university-wide development, principal gifts, annual giving, alumni relations, gift planning, donor relations & stewardship, foundation relations, prospect management and research, advancement marketing and communications, advancement services, strategic resource management and operations. He brings a dynamic mix of expertise to the University of Denver, spanning creative alumni engagement strategy, effective fundraising knowledge and a track record for delivering comprehensive advancement campaigns raising more than $1 billion.

In his most recent role at the University of California, San Diego as associate vice chancellor and chief alumni officer, Armin built a new model for university advancement. Programs created under his leadership increased alumni engagement by 73 percent over five years, grew alumni and student philanthropy by 427 percent and 450 percent respectively, and contributed to raising over $150 million annually in new private support. Prior to that role, he served as assistant vice president at Georgetown University.

Armin is a seasoned advancement executive with over 20 years of private and public sector experience in institutional advancement, strategic management, business development, marketing, technology and operations gained in public and private universities, as well as technology, education, and consulting firms. He holds a BA in communication from the University of California, San Diego and an MBA in finance and strategic management from the University of San Diego,
