In 2018, the Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) at the University of Denver is elevating its work and its vision of redefining mental health in the Denver community and throughout Colorado by expanding our efforts to meet the social needs of the communities we serve. We are convening knowledgeable leadership from across the country and our community to ignite conversations and action that change the ways in which we treat and talk about mental health. We hope you will join us during DU's Homecoming Week for our Redefining Mental Health: A Celebration of Impact to help us recognize the mark GSPP has made in the community this year. Chancellor Rebecca Chopp will be joining us as we honor three GSPP alumni and one faculty member for their acts of leadership and service.

We will be highlighting GSPP's community partnership with the College Gateway Program at Red Rocks Community College and the Second Chance Center in Aurora. GSPP Dean Shelly Smith-Acuña will moderate a fireside chat with Dr. Neil Gowensmith, GSPP Associate Professor, Catherine Lachman, College Gateway Program Coordinator, and Hassan Latif, Second Chance Center Executive Director.

Through this conversation, as well as an exhibition of College Gateway Program student photos and narratives, we will see how this collaboration is innovatively utilizing art and psychology to redefine mental health for returning citizens and strengthening resiliency and success. Students from Red Rocks Community College and GSPP will be in attendance for guests to visit with, and the photovoice exhibit will be on display before and after the program for guests to enjoy.

Heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served.
