Strength and Conditioning and Fitness Coaching Program (online)


Students should submit a completed application at least 6 weeks prior to the quarter they wish to begin. We must receive a completed application along with all required materials by the deadlines below in order for students to be considered for admission for the stated term. 2019 Application Deadlines

  • Winter 2019 Quarter Deadline: November 20, 2018
  • Spring 2019 Quarter Deadline: February 12, 2019
  • Summer 2019 Quarter Deadline: May 6, 2019
  • Fall 2019 Quarter Deadline: August 5, 2019

Admission Procedures

The Strength and Conditioning and Fitness Coaching graduate certificate was designed for rolling admissions, which means upon acceptance students may begin taking courses during any quarter. Upon acceptance to the program, students may defer their application for up to one year. We strive to notify students of their admission status within two weeks of submission of all application materials. Please reach out to Brittany Kahl, Program Manager, with any questions.

The following items are required to be considered for admission to the Strength and Conditioning and Fitness Coaching graduate certificate program:

1) Complete the online application.

2) Undergraduate Transcripts

Submit all official transcripts from the college or university where the student completed their four-year undergraduate degree.

Transcripts should be mailed directly from your university to the Office of Graduate Education:

3) Resume or Curriculum Vitae

Submit a resume highlighting relevant athletic and/or coaching experience, as well as any significant education and professional experience.

Admission Status

The University of Denver's Office of Graduate Studies provides oversight for all graduate programs at DU. Consistent with DU policy, the following criteria are used to determine student's admission status:

GPA Requirements:

  • Applicants for graduate study at the University of Denver must meet a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 to be considered for admission. For applicants with an earned master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution, the GPA from the graduate degree may be used to meet the GPA requirement.
  • Students with a GPA equal to or over 2.5, and a sufficient resume or CV are eligible to receive regular degree student admission into the Strength and Conditioning graduate certificate program.

Admission Decision

Upon acceptance into the Strength and Conditioning certificate program and prior to the beginning of the first quarter, students are required to:

1. Submit proof of CPR & First Aid certification (Red Cross, American Heart Association, or similar level), or the intended completion date of certification. Under no circumstances will students enroll in practicum hours without prior certification and maintaining that certification throughout the quarter enrolled in practicum hours.

2. Complete a background check. Under no circumstance will a student enroll in practicum hours without having completed the background check.
