DU After Dark

About DU After Dark

The Department of Health Promotion within the Health and Counseling Center (HCC) is proud to support student-led late-night, substance-free events that build community among DU students.

Through the DU After Dark initiative, teams of DU students are invited to apply for funding to support their proposed late-night, substance-free events. Teams selected for funding will work with Health Promotion staff to implement and evaluate their event.

DU After Dark is supported by funds from the Girouard Endowment.

Funding Requirements
To be considered for DU After Dark funding, proposed events must meet the following requirements:

  • Open to all DU students
  • Maintain an alcohol and drug-free environment
  • End at 8:30 pm or later
  • Application submitted at least 2 weeks prior to event date

Events that meet the above requirements AND one or more of following criteria will receive priority consideration for funding:

  • Free of charge for DU students to attend
  • Take place on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday
  • End significantly later than 8:30 pm
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Inclusive Excellence

After completing and submitting the form, a staff member will review your application and contact you within 5 business days to schedule a meeting to discuss your event. Questions? Please e-mail [email protected].

requirements for du after dark funding recipients

Prior to Your Event

  • You are required to include the DU After Dark logo on all of your event marketing materials and send copies to [email protected] prior to your event date (the earlier, the better). If you have a webpage or Facebook event, please include that so we can help promote your event.
  • 1-2 business days prior to your event date, you are required to pick up the DU After Dark event kit from HCC-Asbury (1981 S University Blvd). Please note building hours here.
  • Keep all expense receipts, as you will need to provide them in order to receive DU After Dark funding reimbursement.

During Your Event

  • You are required to display the DU After Dark event kit materials (banner, flyers, and event evaluations) prominently at your event. Please encourage attendees to complete event evaluations as these help demonstrate the impact of the DU After Dark program and your event.
  • Please take photos of the event to share!

After Your Event

  • 1-2 business days after your event date, you are required to return the DU After Dark event kit to HCC-Asbury (1981 S University Blvd). Please note building hours here.
  • You are required to complete the DU After Dark post-event form, including uploading copies of expense receipts, in order to receive DU After Dark funding reimbursement.
