Urgent/After Hours Care

With on-call support available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Health & Counseling Center is here to provide the DU community with access to immediate help in urgent medical situations, no matter when they may occur. Although the HCC is not an emergency room or urgent care facility, we can help assess your medical needs and if necessary, provide same-day service or direct you to a facility that can.

If you or someone around you is in an emergency situation, don't hesitate to call 9-1-1, or Campus Safety at 303-871-3000 or ext. 1-3000, right away. For a non-emergency illness, injury, or mental health crisis, call the HCC Front Desk at 303-871-2205. Help is available any time — if it's after hours, just follow the prompts.

For Illness or Injury

For urgent care, always call ahead before walking into the HCC. The HCC Is not an urgent care clinic or emergency room, and only sees patients on a scheduled basis. Our triage nurse will evaluate your situation and help determine whether it warrants a same-day appointment or referral to another facility.

After speaking with the triage nurse:

  • You may be referred to an emergency room or urgent care facility
  • You may be advised to come to the HCC immediately
  • You may be scheduled to come in to the HCC later the same day.
  • You may be provided with home care instructions and given an appointment for the following day.

If your symptoms or condition worsens prior to your appointment, please don't hesitate to call us back.

When the HCC is closed, you can reach the on-call provider by dialing 303-871-2205 and following the prompts. The provider can offer medical advice or direct you to immediate help if needed. All fees incurred outside the HCC must be paid out-of-pocket or billed to your insurance, if applicable.
