<p>Ever since the theatre movement of realism emerged in the late 19th century as a reaction to the histrionic style of melodrama\, actors internationally have crafted their own techniques and systems to appear “realistic” and to live truthfully under the imaginary circumstances of the play. But what feels realistic to one actor may appear exaggerated\, or small and lifeless\, to another. With the assistance of student actors who will perform various theatrical texts\, Professor Penner will demonstrate subjective theatrical realism and the variety of ways in which actors use modern acting tools.</p>
