Interterm & Short-Term Travel

Welcome

COVID-19 Update

The University will allow travel over the Winter Interterm only to select locations due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions. We are hopeful that this will lead to running more travel courses in the near future. For the locations that have not been cleared, we apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but we believe this is the best course of action considering the current global health climate.

We are currently working with faculty to reschedule travel courses to locations that have not been cleared yet. We will still be running domestic travel courses. Please check back here for more information in the coming months. For more information on the policies related to the COVID-19 outbreak, please reference the University's FAQs page.

Interterm General Information

Interterm is the period between quarters in which unique on-campus and travel courses are offered in intensive formats to provide students with an alternative approach to learning.

DU faculty create interterm classes that are academically challenging and involve an experiential component. Most students who experience Interterm courses return for additional opportunities to enhance their experience.

The courses may be taken for credit at current DU tuition rates. There are two Interterms each year, which are scheduled immediately after the Fall and Winter quarters. Additionally, UAP manages domestic and international travel courses in the regular Summer term.

The Benefits

Interterm courses are very appealing for the following reasons:

  • Electives that are distinctive and experiential.
  • Small classes that explore new areas and provoke keen interest.
  • Interaction with DU faculty and highly respected professionals.
  • Intensive courses condense academic work into a few weeks.
  • Travel courses offer educational and multicultural opportunities in exciting locations.
  • Interterm scholarships are available to students who qualify.
  • Interterm courses lighten regular quarterly course loads.
  • Graduation goals are easier to meet by including occasional Interterm courses.
