Preparing for Your Arrival

Transportation and Hotels

Getting to DU from the Airport

There are several ways to reach the University of Denver from the Denver International Airport (DEN). Due to liability issues, International Student and Scholar Services is unable to provide airport pick-up services for new students at this time.

Regional Transportation District or RTD is a part of Denver's public transportation system. RTD's A-Line will take you from DEN to Union Station in Downtown Denver in under 40 minutes. From there one can connect to other lines to get to the University of Denver station or another destination. Cost: $9

Uber and Lyft

Uber and Lyft  are private or shared ground transportation services that can be arranged via app. Discounts are available for first-time riders. Be sure to note details listed in the app about where to meet your driver. Cost: Uber- starts at $40, Lyft starts at $42; exact cost before you request the ride through the app.

Airport Shuttle

A variety of shuttle services provide shared-ride transportation from DEN into the city. There are many to select from and reserve prior to arriving. and  Cost: $25-$35

TAXIcab Services

A taxi provides the most direct transportation to campus or other location and are generally available at any time of the day. Taxis can be hailed in the ground transportation area outside the airport exit on level 5. For more information about taxi services available at Denver International Airport, visit Cost: $67-$75 not including tip.

Hotel Shuttle

If you are staying at a hotel, contact the guest services representative to ask if a courtesy shuttle is available. Many hotels provide scheduled shuttle pick-up from the airport upon request. Hotel shuttles generally do not run after 10:00 pm, so you should verify that one will be available to pick you up if your flight arrives late at night.

DU Student Organizations Airport Pick-Up

Some student organizations volunteer to pick students up at the airport as a service to their community. For a complete list of international student groups at DU and their contact information, please visit our Student Groups page.

Undergraduate students are advised to show up no earlier than the first day they are able to move into their residence hall. If travel plans have one arriving before the scheduled move-in date, temporary housing must be arranged. ISSS strongly recommends making such arrangements before arriving to Denver.

Graduate students searching for a long-term rental might find that they also need short-term housing accommodations. Information on rentals and renting in Denver can be found on our website under Life at DU housing section.

The university does not offer short-term housing for students. There are several motels and hotels located nearby campus. A list of hotels that offer special rates for the DU community can be found here.
