 KIHA Presents chalk talks

The Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging will present monthly Chalk Talks for faculty and students interested in aging. These talks are specifically about current and future work related to aging to help foster new collaborations between faculty. Please join KIHA for our November Chalk Talk, when Dr. Daniel Paredes will present about his research on movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease. Pizza will be provided.

KIHA proudly announces its 6th annual request for proposals for its pilot grant program. The goals of the fund are to support an increase in external federal funding in aging/longevity, advance areas of aging/longevity research strength at DU, support development of new areas of aging/longevity research, and promote interdisciplinary partnerships. Projects funded are expected to result in applications for funding for large, multi-year research projects. Proposals from all fields are encouraged to apply.

The deadline to submit for this year's pilot grant funding is Monday, January 7, 2019 at 5 pm. Funding is expected to begin in April 2019. Click here to download the RFP.

Dr. Granholm-Bentley speaks at the annual Pioneer Legacy Society Lunch

On June 26, Dr. Granholm-Bentley presented at the annual Pioneer Legacy Society Lunch, where the University of Denver honored those who have pledged to make an estate gift. The room was filled with donors, who mingled over lunch before listening to Dr. Granholm-Bentley present the work of the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging. On Friday, April 13, 2018 KIHA hosted the first COCARE State of Aging Conference. COCARE is a group of Colorado Universities united in research, service and education to address the challenges of aging. This group first came together in September of 2017 when Dr. Granholm-Bentley convened a meeting of area universities with programs in aging. The original participating universities were the University of Denver, Regis University, CU Anschutz, CSU Columbine Health Systems Center for Healthy Aging, CU Boulder Healthy Aging Project, and the UCCS Aging Center. The Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging (KIHA) is a new multi-disciplinary institute on the University of Denver campus with a vision to improve the quality in life, wellness and community.

We are on the 5th floor of the Engineering and Computer Science Building and hope that you will visit us in person or online. Our physical and online space are evolving as we work on fulfilling our mission and associated five strategic objectives.

Thank you for celebrating the grand opening of the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging at the University of Denver on October 15, 2016. We had a great time and hope that you did too.
